The Zipp Ceramic Bearing Wheel Upgrade Kit employs top-grade materials and precision engineering to gain speed. The bearings are made in Germany to Zipp’s exact specifications by our supplier specializing in medical equipment. The bearing kits are manufactured and assembled in one place to ensure precise tolerances. The bearing races use a hardened chrome-molybdenum-nickel-based superalloy, which is the best grade of stainless steel available. Zipp testing shows this material is corrosion-resistant, even to saltwater. Zipp’s combination of material and ceramic balls (Si3N4) means the bearings are highly durable. The high strength and durability of the bearings allow us to use non-contact seals for the ceramic bearings. The result is a bearing kit that significantly reduces drag and breakaway torque for the hub shell and driver body. The retaining cages inside the bearings are made from polyamide rather than steel.
